7 Taverns in Istanbul to Visit at Night

I will mention the new generation of new taverns that hit us right in the heart with their stylish and simple design, background music, calm atmosphere, appetizers and presentations that make a difference! Starting with the Münferit, and continuing with the Mükellef and Veranda Pera, this trend initiated several new venues as well. I want to share these new venues with you without missing any time.

If you want to have a pleasant, quiet evening with plenty of chat on a delicious table, these places will be waiting for you:

For Vegan and Vegetarians: Terütaze

Recently, a new one has been added to the cool places of Tomtom Neighborhood. Moreover, unlike many taverns that have menus full of yogurt, cheese, and meat, this new place, Terütaze has a kitchen consisting of only vegan and vegetarian food and appetizers. But even the carnivorous like this venue’s kitchen. For example, there are vegan Burgers, vegan wraps, vegan sucuk, and even vegan iskender kebab. I also recommend the olive salad or three-color humus that will suit your table.

Many flavors in the menu are prepared by the local producers, ecological markets and materials they receive from the gardens.

For Those Looking for Simplicity and Calmness: Küçük Kulüp Meyhane

A new one was added to the taverns of Nişantaşı which did not exceed the fingers of one hand. The venue is just across the street in front of the American Hospital parking lot and is a new generation of taverns where creative appetizers are served.

There are two young chefs who set out to bring differences to the tavern culture. The venue stands out with its simple décor and black and white photos on its walls. On the menu, there are well-known tastes such as tabule salad, Crete sauce, marinated sea bass, octopus, topik, calamari, and there are also a lot of different appetizers. The music played in the background suits exactly to the place. Turkish Art Music, the Turkish pop of the 60-70s and our indispensable Tanju Okan songs can make your day very enjoyable.

In summary; Küçük Kulüp is a new stop in the city with its tavern culture consisting of simplicity and calmness.

There Are Only Seven Tables: Yedi Masa

Yedi Masa, consisting of only 7 tables, with a freshly prepared menu and a delicious taste for the frequenters, is the next venue I will talk about.

Yedi Masa, which is a 2 years old tavern, is one of the oldest venues in the list. But the place which is a modern follower of the past tavern culture and makes a big difference is new for us because of its concept.

You can feel the warm atmosphere of the Aegean Sea accompanied by music coming from the gramophone records, as well as the decoration that resembles the fish restaurants of Bozcaada.

Here again, there are daily tastes to full your stomach such as dry cacık, atom, sea-bean, fish dumplings, Greek pastry, grilled octopus, Armenian stew and fish bacon.

You should get information from the employees for the grilled or steamed seasonal fish. Desserts that you cannot find in every tavern such as chocolate soufflé, parfait, ice cream, and semolina are also the leading actors of the venue.

Address of the Yedi Masa: Saint-Joseph’liler Derneği, Caferağa Mahallesi, Hülya Sokak, No 5, Kadıköy, İstanbul

Facebook Address: https://www.facebook.com/yedimasa/

Price Range: $ 30 for 2 people on average

A Tavern in Karakoy: Nuran Karaköy

I continue my list with Nuran so that there will be no one who doesn’t hear the news of a brand new tavern in Karaköy, one of the creators of the famous restaurant of Meze, Samatya. Obviously, we all are very happy because there is a venue like this in this neighborhood full of coffee shops and cafes.

In the tavern that has already made many people’s faces smile with its unique concept, there are delicious appetizers such as burned yogurt beans, tahini cauliflower sauce, celery with quinces, beans with avocado, burghul salad with cherries, artichoke with mashed feaves, dry cacık, walnut hummus, topik, and chili cheese.

Its simple and elegant décor is an excellent presentation that will make you want to take photos.

That is to say, this tavern in Karaköy, covering a variety of appetizers in the same menu must be in your list of taverns to visit!

Nuran Karaköy Address: Kemankeş Karamustafa Paşa Mahallesi, Kemankeş Caddesi, No 35, Beyoğlu, İstanbul

A Tavern with a DJ: Chez Moi Meyhane

We continue to receive news from Karaköy that we are not accustomed to! The venue that opened its doors in September meets different needs. While dancing with colorful DJ performances on one floor, it is possible to experience a night with plenty of chat on another floor.

As appetizers, Madame Şake’s friend of Madame Despina, who is one of the famous alewives of Istanbul, is preparing topik, caciki, Ayvalik herbs, mashed feaves with lentils, chili cheese paste, stuffed vine leaves with sumac and olive oil, mackerel with soy sauce and calamary hash browns for you.

Chez Moi, in my opinion, is free of stress and will be the best place to visit on Friday and Saturday. You must discover it as soon as possible.

Avlu Ocakbaşı

Do not let the name of it fool you, it is one of the new generation of taverns.

Meats, turnips, kebabs, masters, peppers, and spices of this place come from Adana. I recommend you not to miss the cold appetizers such as hibeş, mutabbal, atom, Hatay olives with powdered thyme, eggplant sauce, and Cretan cheese paste.

In summary; I give 10/10 points to this venue which is located in Beyoğlu, in the courtyard of the German Cultural Foundation, synthesizes the fireplace and tavern cultures, and plays Turkish popular songs of the 90s!

With its warm décor, beautiful flooring, Tarkan and Ajda posters resembling Andy Warhol on the walls, as well as its delicious options, it is a place that you must visit.

It Makes the Best of Its Name: Bi Garip Meyhane

Bi Garip Meyhane which is replaced by the old Gallia is a strange place, just like its name. In particular, the “Joker and Harley” paintings of the space will make you want to take some pictures. Apart from this absurd visual that we are not accustomed to seeing in a tavern, the colors and melodies in the room will make you feel the Aegean culture.

Şakşuka, eggplant salad, cibes, kipper, stuffed pickles, sea beans, borlotti beans in olive oil, grilled calamari, fried mussels, kokoreç, octopus, liver saute with chicken skewers, Çökertme and tirit kebab are the most preferred dishes in this venue.
